Age restrictions: Children and adolescents at the Uber Arena

Dear parents, dear person with parental powers:

In order to comply with the stipulations of the Jugendschutzgesetz (JuSchG, Protection of Young Persons Act), children and adolescents under the age of 16 will be admitted to the Uber Arena, particularly to attend concerts, only in the company of a person with parental power (erziehungsbeauftragte Person) or custodial person (personensorgeberechtigte Person), whereby each of these persons must hold a valid admission ticket. As a general rule, children under the age of six will be admitted to the Uber Arena only in the company of an adult. Depending on the individual event involved, the organizer of the respective event may impose, in derogation from the above rules, more stringent criteria for the admission of children and adolescents to events at the Uber Arena. Please be sure to inform yourself in advance on this subject by consulting the website of the respective event organizer (e.g. their general terms for the purchase of admission tickets).

Now that the new Protection of Young Persons Act (JuSchG) has come into force, custodial persons (e.g. the parents) of a child or young person have the option of designating a person with parental power for a particular event at the Uber Arena, who will accompany and supervise their minor child during and after the event.

Provided he/she is accompanied by such a person with parental power, your child will be able to attend specific events.

When designating a person with parental power, please keep the following in mind:

  • The person with parental power must be of legal age.
  • The person with parental power must be mature enough to be able to attend to your child in a responsible manner and as required in a given situation.
  • If the event attended takes place in the evening/nighttime, prior arrangements must be made for your child’s transport home.
  • You will need to ensure that the person with parental power is not under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants when he/she accompanies your child.

As a general rule, you will continue to bear full responsibility for your child when it comes to your supervisory obligations and all applicable legal liability regulations, even if you have designated a person with parental power.

We have prepared appropriate forms for you to use in designating a person with parental power within the meaning of Section 1 paragraph 1 number 4 of the Protection of Young Persons Act (JuSchG).

The following rules will also apply:

1. For concerts and dance events:

  • The above-mentioned form for designating a person with parental power is to be used mandatorily without exception whenever the children and adolescents in question are under the age of 16.
  • Unaccompanied children and adolescents under 16 years of age will not be admitted. If accompanied by a person with parental power or custodial person, however, they will be admitted without any time limitation.
  • Unaccompanied adolescents older than 16 and younger than 18 years of age will be admitted until no later than 12 midnight. If accompanied by a person with parental power or custodial person, they will be admitted as a general rule without any time limitation.

2. For other entertainment events, sports events or family events:

  • As general rule, the designation of a person with parental power will not be required.
  • Even if not accompanied by a person with parental power or custodial person, children and adolescents under the age of 16 will be admitted as a general rule until no later than 11:00 pm.
  • Adolescents older than 16 and younger than 18 who are not accompanied by a person with paren-tal power or custodial person will be admitted until no later than 12 midnight. If accompanied by a person with parental power or custodial person, however, they will be admitted as a general rule without any time limitation.

3. For events that have an undesirable impact on young people within the meaning of Section 7 of the Protection of Young Persons Act (JuSchG):

Insofar as the event in question is one having an undesirable impact on young people within the meaning of Section 7 of the Protection of Young Persons Act (JuSchG), deviating regulations will apply on a case-by-case basis. You will need to enquire about these separately.
