NBA Berlin Game 2026 – KEEP IT IN PLAY

The NBA game on January 15 at the Uber Arena is not only the first regular-season game in Germany featuring the Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic, but also the debut of the KEEP IT IN PLAY initiative. In partnership with the NBA, Uber Arena introduces a circular system for managing game-day waste.

KEEP IT IN PLAY offers a fully reusable system that reduces waste from food, drinks, and fan activities.

To make the experience smooth, sustainable, and enjoyable for everyone, we invite fans to take an active role in the KEEP IT IN PLAY system. By following a few simple steps before and during the event, every fan can help reduce waste, support reusability, and contribute to a cleaner, more circular NBA Global Games experience.

Our Circular Game Plan

• Rolling out reusable plates concessions in addition to the reusable cups generally used
• Installing clearly marked KEEP IT IN PLAY Points (separation areas) across the arena
• Deploying a trained KEEP IT IN PLAY Team to guide and support fans
• Aligning backstage washing, sorting and operational systems to create a closed loop
• On-site composter which process organic food into soil which Uber Arena uses for Fame Forest
• Tracking performance to refine and scale the model at future NBA EME Global Games

How Fans Can KEEP IT IN PLAY - Guidelines

Before You Arrive:

Set yourself up for a smooth, sustainable game night.

• Expect reusables for drinks and food — no disposable packaging at concessions
• Minimise any personal packaging brought to the event
• Check the arena map: KEEP IT IN PLAY Points will be clearly marked

Inside the Arena:

Make every choice count once you’re inside.

• Look for the KEEP IT IN PLAY Points throughout food and concourse areas
• Return all reusables (cups, plates)
• Follow colour-coded sorting at the KEEP IT IN PLAY Points (Reusable Plates, Food Waste, Residual Waste)
• Ask the KEEP IT IN PLAY Team if you need help — they’re here for you
• Keep your seat area clean to support efficient collection and reuse
