DESCRIPTION:The German quintet Santiano is coming to Berlin and will be entering the stage of O2 World Berlin on 12 April 2014 for an eclectic night full of Northern German charm and musical excellence. When long-time friends and musicians Hans-Timm Hinrichsen, Axel Stosberg, Björn Both, Andreas Fahnert and Pete Sage decided to come together and make music as Santiano, no-one knew that 2012 would become such an incredibly successful year. Their debut album "Bis ans Ende der Welt" claimed peak position in the album charts and was certified with double platinum, followed by a tour through Germany and an Echo award. Santiano’s love for seafaring is mirrored in their music to the fullest: hoisting the anchor, setting sail, the rushing of the sea, goodbyes and wanderlust are manifested in all of their songs. Pete Sage, who has worked with Westernhagen and Mike Oldfield in the past, has been familiar with seafaring for more than 30 years. The other four musicians however are no less intrigued by the appeal of the salty air and the Nordic serenity. The result is a mixture of various musical genres, ranging from traditional or international folk songs to pop music, rock’n’roll and Irish folk music. Santiano have managed to revive almost forgotten musical traditions while giving them a contemporary touch – a quality that will surely enthrall the audience at their concert at the O2 World Berlin on 12 April 2014.
