The name of the band is derived from the French phrase "bon hiver" which translates to "good winter". With their album "For Emma, Forever Ago" which was released in 2007 they got lots of international attention. A few years later they already won multiple Grammy Awards for their Album "Bon Iver". Their most recent album with the title "I, I" which was released in 2019 is their fourth album. With their oftentimes melancholic, simple songs they show how much raw emotion can be translated into "just one song".
